Your rights,
on record.

Your Ofcom-protected rights — price rises, switching, and complaints.

The Pounds-and-Pence Rule (17 January 2025)

Ofcom bans inflation-linked price rises in new contracts. Any annual rise must be stated in exact pounds and pence at point of sale, before sign-up.

Your 30-Day Penalty-Free Exit Right

If a network applies a price rise not properly disclosed at sign-up, you have a 30-day penalty-free exit window from notification.

Telecoms Consumer Charter (February 2026)

Voluntary charter signed by BT, Sky, TalkTalk, Three, VMO2, and Vodafone. Commits to pricing certainty at sign-up and proactive social tariff signposting.

Maximum Contract Term

Under Ofcom rules, the maximum initial commitment period is 24 months.

Phone Unlocking

Since December 2021, all phones sold by UK networks must be sold unlocked. Older handsets must be unlocked free on request.

PAC, STAC, INFO

Text PAC to 65075 to keep your number. Text STAC to 75075 to leave without it. Text INFO to 85075 to check your contract — free, legally guaranteed.

Complaint Escalation

Contact provider; get a reference number. If unresolved after 6 weeks (from 8 April 2026), escalate free to the Communications Ombudsman or CISAS. ADR decisions are binding on providers.
